In this video interview, SEO expert Todd Friesen, explains how the Panda update to Google's ranking algorithm hit e-commerce sites hard - and what they can do to regain their rankings.
Pand is the largest algorithmic update google has ever done, says Friesen. Their intent was to lower rankings for 'thin' or low-value content, such as duplicate content and 'scraped' content. Some notable sites that got hit were eHow.com and Mahalo.com.
E-commerce sites got hurt since they just reproduced manufacturer product feeds that appeared on hundreds of sites. Friesen sees the Panda update as a 'clean-up of the index,' rather than a 'penalty.'
