Mozilla is releasing its new version of its web browser in Firefox 8. So, what's new?
Mozilla's faster, better browser also comes with integrated Twitter in the search bar, add-on compatibility, HTML 5 content menus -- oh, and did we mention it's reportedly faster?
That's important, because add-ons have triggered serious problems for users in the past - like the notoriously buggy Skype toolbar.
A blogger for CNET writes...
"With earlier versions, third-party software could extend Firefox with new features--Skype's tool for highlighting phone numbers for easy online calling, for example. With Firefox 8, though, third-party add-ons will be disabled by default."
Mozilla has also included Twitter into the search bar. Mozilla partnered with Twitter this year. Here's a writer for Digital Trends' take.
"This is ideal for users that want to get the latest real-time chatter about significant events in the news. Firefox 8 also brings the ability to load tabs as the user sees fit when the browser restarts, thus improving start up time. Instead of loading all tabs that were open when the browser was closed, each tab doesn't load until the user switches to a new tab."
